Conference

The 4th Annual Greek-speaking Conference of Communication Labs (CCLABS 2025) was successfully held online on June 28 and 29, 2025. The conference was organized by the Image, Sound and Cultural Representation Laboratory and the PrivaSI Lab of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication at the University of the Aegean. This year’s thematic focus was “Communication in the Era of the 5th Industrial Revolution,” which served as the foundation for a wide-ranging interdisciplinary dialogue between researchers, professionals, and academics across the fields of communication, journalism, media, and cultural studies.

The conference featured over 40 scientific presentations that explored key topics including artificial intelligence in media production, data ethics, participatory content creation, algorithmic personalization, and the implications of emerging technologies for public discourse. Two distinguished keynote speakers, Professor Philemon Bantimaroudis of the University of Cyprus and journalist-author Manolis Andriotakis, offered critical insights on the evolving relationship between communication and technology.

More than 500 participants joined the sessions via livestream on the official YouTube channel of the University of the Aegean. At the closing of the conference, two student-led research teams were recognized with Best Paper Awards. The conference concluded with a greeting from the organizers of the upcoming CCLABS 2026, which will be hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

All sessions are available for public viewing through the University of the Aegean’s YouTube platform.
