Conference

The PrivaSI Lab actively contributed to the organization of the 1st International Conference on the Dialect of Lesvos (ICDL-Lesbos), held in Mytilene from July 4 to 6, 2025. The conference was established as a platform for promoting the study, preservation, and cultural recognition of the Lesvian dialect, with the participation of scholars in the fields of linguistics, sociolinguistics, cultural heritage, and digital humanities.

Bringing together researchers from Greece and abroad, ICDL-Lesbos underscored the importance of dialectal studies within the broader discourse of cultural identity and linguistic diversity. The PrivaSI Lab’s involvement particularly emphasized the intersection of technology and humanities through initiatives for the digital documentation and computational analysis of regional linguistic variation.

This pioneering initiative represents a significant contribution to the humanities and cultural studies landscape of the Aegean and has laid the groundwork for future research collaborations. The conference also highlighted the growing need for interdisciplinary approaches to dialectal preservation in the digital era.
